I looked my 10 year log says I'm approaching, 11000 miles, and 1500 hours elapsed time, so to hit 10,000 hours I'm going to need another 60 years!

Running is just one of those activities that have physical time limits for most people. You can walk or bike 8 hours/day day after day, but even easy running is intense enough that it is limited to 2-3 hours per day.

Fortunately my running coach says "You get faster on your rest days." It may be propaganda in part, but good precautionary propaganda since overtraining can be worse, and lead to injuries that take months to heal.

Of course not many people are going to make a living as a runner. Still it might help you live a little longer?

I also did a calculation that suggests my rest heart rate is 20 beats lower per minute due to fitness from running, so running 30 minutes/day means I need an extra 3000 beats/day during exercise, but save 28,000 beats for the rest of the day, so a net savings of 25,000 beats per day, which I can use during my retirement years. Okay, that's more propaganda, and I'm unsure if the numbers are accurate or useful.

Unfortunately sitting all day might need some compensation too. Maybe I should try Rumsfeld's standing desk?
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/nilofer-merchant/sitting-is-the-smoking-of-our-generation_b_2506748.html

Ares Olympushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09726811306826601686noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8078379512095504946.post-14931223838952904172016-08-09T10:56:20.902-07:002016-08-09T10:56:20.902-07:00I'm watching the Olympics, but just for the fe...I'm watching the Olympics, but just for the fencing. Recording the blocks it's in, and mostly fast-forwarding thru the rest. I knew beforehand that my eyes are not fast enough to catch all the action, but I am suitably amazed.Sam L.https://www.blogger.com/profile/00996809377798862214noreply@blogger.com
