(As a general rule today, the governments of most countries are on their side, burkini bans notwithstanding.)

On the other hand, the US government has now decided that YOUR religious freedom must be curtailed because they think you WANT to attack other people, even if such a concept is not only not part of your religious doctrine, but is anathema too it.

http://libertyunyielding.com/2016/09/11/federal-civil-rights-commission-says-religious-liberty-code-intolerance-racism/AesopFannoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8078379512095504946.post-10404807209205582772016-09-09T10:24:48.103-07:002016-09-09T10:24:48.103-07:00Who else remembers stories of "youths" s...Who else remembers stories of "youths" setting fires to cars in and around Paris?Sam L.https://www.blogger.com/profile/00996809377798862214noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8078379512095504946.post-69045493297145729862016-09-09T05:47:56.953-07:002016-09-09T05:47:56.953-07:00Stuart: If Muslims in France want to receive bette...Stuart: If Muslims in France want to receive better treatment they might start doing unto others as they would have others do unto them. If they cannot respect local customs they are not going to receive respect in return.

It does get to be problematic to connect all muslims to the behavior of all apparent Muslims. What responsibility do I have for the behavior of other people who look like me?

I see the Post has an article about it too:
https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/worldviews/wp/2016/09/09/in-france-women-in-shorts-become-another-symbol-of-the-clothing-culture-war/
----
According to reports in the French press, two women wearing shorts were verbally assaulted as they made their way through an eastern neighborhood in the southern city of Toulon on Sunday afternoon. Local prosecutor Bernard Marchal said a group of about 10 young men began insulting the women, who were out biking and rollerblading with their families, calling them "whores" and making other vulgar insults.

When the women's spouses confronted the men, a brawl broke out. The husbands and a male friend were severely beaten. The fighting, which was witnessed by children in the group, left one man with severe facial fractures and another with a broken nose, Marchal told Agence France-Presse. Two suspects, ages 17 and 19, were apprehended Tuesday; an investigation is underway to find the others.

So far, there is little information about the motivations of the attackers in either instances — details such as their religious or ethnic background have not been publicly released. However, some in France linked the weekend attack to the ongoing burkini controversy and the country's Muslim minority.

"The question of the burkini, the proliferation of full veils, assaults on women in shorts and the beating of their companions share the same logic," Céline Pina, a former regional councilor for the Paris area and the author of a book on Islamist extremist, wrote for Le Figaro on Thursday. "It's making the body of the woman a social and political issue, a litmus test for the progress of an ideology within society."

Officials of the far-right National Front shared the story widely on social media, often using the hashtag #TousEnShort.
---

Ares Olympushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09726811306826601686noreply@blogger.com
