Second, the concept of change is similarly ambiguous with respect to its merit. Finally, rebels with a cause and without a clue are perturbations to a system and are, more often than not, unwelcome.

This, of course, depends on the character of the system, but once it reaches a stable state, it is likely that it is worth preserving in whole, if not in detail.

Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shewn, that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed.
-- The Declaration of Independence

While this is not directly applicable to the topic (i.e. neophile, i.e. tradition, i.e. adaptability) in this post, it does describe a sound principle which is applicable.

I would suggest that those who reject tradition for light and transient causes, would be well advised to check their egos as they seek to compete with their predecessors and marginalize their competing interests.

It is a selective reality, where a “progressive” philosophy denigrates individual dignity, a “liberal” philosophy devalues human life, and where each promotes infantilism of its adherents, and imposes it on its resisters. It wasn't always this way. Well, it was, in degrees, but that is an unavoidable limitation imposed upon us by reality.

I think we can determine a better compromise. One that is optimally compatible with both the natural and enlightened orders. It’s not on the left. It’s not on the right. It has a decidedly conservative character.

So, is it justified to replace the car, and is it justified to replace our system of governance (or is it government)? The answer is maybe.n.nhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04252447117532342957noreply@blogger.com
