Brooks must blame Congress and not Obama for the simple reason that he is still in love with Obama -- this love has been well documented by Brooks himself -- in a kind of strange Huck Jim role reversal where Jim guides the raft towards freedom.
To go to a second metaphor, Brooks is the battered spouse who simply cannot believe that he's been hit and will be hit again and looks around for something external to his abuser to blame his abuse on.
In this Brooks is like many Obambis who simply sau "I just can't quit you, Barack."
And for as long as that continues they are all in for some fundamental pain.
Surely, this is true. I am waiting to see what Brooks and the others do to retain a semblance of intellectual integrity as they allow their love to control their analyses.
Sadly, I fear that we are all in for some fundamental pain.

It is truly said, in all senses of the phrase, "You gotta burn to grow."
