Read it. Your generation of men might take pride in being protector and provider of women, but young men today do not.
I even read on a PUA site of young men who refuse to help little old ladies or women who happen to slip and fall because, and I qoute, "you are the prize". That's what these men are being taught.
You are a tad out of touch with how this generation who has been raised on technology thinks.
The attitude is: you are an adult, take care of your own damn self.
The younger generation can do as it pleases. Those of us who are older do feel some responsibility to point out where it seems to be going wrong.
Perhaps, the younger generation is simply going through the painful process of reinventing the wheel.
Otherwise, I for one do not think it to be progress when men and women are taught to treat each other with such disrespect-- every man and woman for him or herself is not a formula for a productive or happy life in a human community.
I have to admit that I was not surprise that the first comment was a "little Princess" remark about ego as if the little Princess has none. I can imagine that many a young man has heard, "I am woman, hear me roar. I don't need men anymore." enough to think "Roar away." I know the thought has occurred to me that if I saw a woman in distress, who is not related to me, would I put my life on the line to save her or provide aid. Just how much do I owe women, many of whom hate men? Thankfully that has not happened. I don't think women realize how precarious their position is in this world. The smart idea, as in many things, is never burn your bridges behind you for you may need to get back across those bridges in the future. One look at the myriad of disasters, religious concepts , et al ought to give one pause to consider how fast one's life might change.
Why would anyone want to do that?
ReplyDeleteGood point... I think it's because they feel that they have to.
