The state of liberal thought being what it is, the leftosphere is agog over Elizabeth Warren’s vigorous, impassioned response to the charge that Democrats might be practicing class warfare.
Her points have refuted many times by now, but, no one does it quite like Rush Limbaugh. So, here’s a transcript of his comments on Elizabeth Warren. Happily enough he includes a clip of Warren’s original remarks.
It all makes you think that the left’s much vaunted monopoly on brilliance is a mirage. Who knew?
I note that "Hinges of History" is a series of popular histories written by Thomas Cahill. I read a couple of them some years ago. Very light histories.

So, while I agree with you that Tom is actually painful to read, I suspect this is where he got the "hinge" from.
Thanks, JP. I didn't know about the reference... do they have one about the "crucial hinges of history?"
ReplyDeleteNo, the "crucial" is something that Tom added to his usual gibberish to profoundify it.
ReplyDeleteBookworm comments on her former Law professor (Elizabeth Warren) at http://www.bookwormroom.com/2010/08/28/elizabeth-warrens-inchoate-thought-process/. Doesn't think much of her.
ReplyDeleteMight be a good opportunity to use one of Glenn Reynolds favorite Heinlein quotes again:
"Throughout history, poverty is the normal condition of man. Advances which permit this norm to be exceeded — here and there, now and then — are the work of an extremely small minority, frequently despised, often condemned, and almost always opposed by all right-thinking people. Whenever this tiny minority is kept from creating, or (as sometimes happens) is driven out of a society, the people then slip back into abject poverty. This is known as "bad luck."
