When you’ve lost Andy Borowitz….
Andy Borowitz writes satirical columns for The New Yorker.
His point of view is reliably liberal.
Thus, it is noteworthy when he takes on President Obama:
President
Obama used his weekly radio address on Saturday to reassure the American people
that he has “played no role whatsoever” in the U.S. government over the past
four years.
“Right
now, many of you are angry at the government, and no one is angrier than I am,”
he said. “Quite frankly, I am glad that I have had no involvement in such an
organization.”
The
President’s outrage only increased, he said, when he “recently became aware of
a part of that government called the Department of Justice.”
“The
more I learn about the activities of these individuals, the more certain I am
that I would not want to be associated with them,” he said. “They sound like
bad news.”
Obama should recall the immortal words of his guru, Saul
Alinsky: “Ridicule is man’s most potent weapon.”
Obama might be able to weather Congressional investigations
and attacks by pundits and commentators. How well will he hold up when he starts looking ridiculous to those who support him the most?

ReplyDeleteIt's good to see that others share my opinion of Dowd's commentary.
One wonders how a person who has spent almost 5 years in the job of president and still knows nothing about the way government works. S/O. Can one be impeached for malfeasance? It strains credulity to believe much of what Obama is trying to foist on a seemingly gullible electorate.
I've been saying for years that Obama is completely inert.
ReplyDeleteHe doesn't generate any strong feelings in me.
The only thing he knows how to do is to *be* Obama.
He knows how government works...it's our form of government he wishes to change. He's never made that secret--he wants unilateral rule. His.
ReplyDeleteFew people know what makes our constitutionally-limited federal republic unique, and why it's still very, very relevant. Each of those words: constitutional, limited, federal and republic are critical. I encourage everyone to look them up. Taken together, they represent a truly unique form of government... Something to be honored and cherished.
ReplyDeleteIn today's grotesquely emotive media environment, all people seem to care about is that Washington owned slaves, Jefferson slept with his slave, Franklin was a womanizer and Adams a bombastic prig. If that's where we are, and that's all young people kow, we're doomed.
Here's the truth: this is an exceptional country with a unique form of government. Switzerland is the only nation that's ever borrowed from the Founders' wisdom. I'll leave it to you to decide whether it's still relevant in the age of Obama, an absolutist Leftis man who has learned absolutely nothing since college.
