Liberal talk-show host and commentator Tavis Smiley said
this to Sean Hannity the other night:
The
data is going to indicate sadly that when the Obama administration is over,
black people will have lost ground in every single leading economic indicator
category. On that regard, the president ought to be held responsible.
From a representative of the African-American community it
was noteworthy.
But, what does it mean to hold the president responsible?
Smiley continued:
I
respect the president. I will protect the president. And I will correct the
president. He's right on this government shutdown. Republicans are thwarting
the rule of law with the Constitution. If they let this debt go into default,
they're trampling again on the Constitution.
Unbeknownst to himself Smiley has provided us with a
textbook example of cognitive dissonance. He wants to hold President Obama
responsible for his dismal record of economic performance but he will still defend
and protect Obama.
This means that Obama does not need to deliver for
his most fervent and loyal supporters.
They will stand with him, no matter what. His base is solid.
One wonders how much the same principle applies to other
Democratic voters, whether, in other words, they will vote the party line no
matter how well or poorly their their politicians serve them.
As for those who voted for Barack Obama and have seen their
fortunes decline, perhaps they ought first to hold themselves responsible.
Identity politics has consequences. Please check your critical thinking at the door. This is a reality-free zone.
ReplyDeleteWelcome to ObamaWorld, the fantasy program that never stops, and actually becomes reality.
Tip
The Constitution declares a priority for public debt service. With $2.6 trillion in receipts, and around $1 trillion deficit, Obama needs to explain how he exploited capital and labor with liberal abandon, and betrayed his oath of office.
ReplyDeleteIf they do, once again, raise the debt limit, then they need to explain the consequences of a progressive devaluation of capital and labor.
As for the "African-American" community, it doesn't exist. It is extremely prejudiced, and ignorant, to classify people by the actual or perceived color of their skin. These people gained absolutely no insight from the civil rights movement before it was incorporated for profit.
