President Biden Erases Women

Among the executive orders signed by the centrist Joe Biden was one that erased women. The transgender lobby demanded it, and our new president, having lifted his nose out of the nearest woman’s hair, has now decided to declare that trans women, that is, men who believe they are women, will now be allowed-- by presidential edict-- to participate in women’s sports, to shower in women’s shower rooms, to undress in women’s locker rooms.

This means is that there will be no more women's sports.

Of course, this is wildly misogynistic. It shows bias toward women and subjects women to unwanted abuse. Some feminists have objected, but many are simply willing to let it go.

The Washington Examiner has the story:

The hashtag #BidenErasedWomen trended Thursday as advocates on both sides of the issue wrestled with the social, political and religious implications of the order signed Wednesday by Mr. Biden “preventing and combating discrimination on the basis of gender identity or sexual orientation.”

“Children should be able to learn without worrying about whether they will be denied access to the restroom, the locker room, or school sports,” the order said. “People should be able to access health care and secure a roof over their heads without being subjected to sex discrimination.”

Of course, it has nothing to do with sex discrimination. Believing that you are of a different sex does not make you a member of a different sex. If anyone really knew anything about science they would know that gender is determined by chromosomes. Failing to accept that scientific truth shows that one does not care a whit for science.

Transgenderism is a belief, and nothing but a belief. It is a belief that attempts to negate biology. The trans movement wants to force everyone to accept the ruse.

The Democratic president said he wanted to ensure equal treatment under the law by directing federal agencies to eliminate discrimination in guidances and policies, while critics predicted that the endgame would be the effective eradication of women’s restrooms, prisons and athletics.

“Unfortunately, the Biden administration wasted no time in demanding policies that gut legal protections for women by denying female athletes fair competition in sports, ignoring women’s unique health needs, and forcing vulnerable girls to share intimate spaces with men who identify as female,” said Christiana Holcomb, Alliance Defending Freedom legal counsel.

To counter this nonsense we turn to an article written in 2018 by British firebrand Julie Burchill. Nothing is quite as tonic as Burchill’s take. And nothing is quite as unwoke as Burchill's view. For the record she is a notably bisexual feminist.

She begins by questioning the notion of gay pride. What does she have against it? Quite simply, that pride should attach to human achievement, not to sexual orientation. An interesting thought, one that deserves more consideration.

In her words:

Why would any human being, in all our dazzling complexity, identify themselves first and foremost by where they choose to put their penis? And why on Earth would they be proud of putting it there? That’s Pride gone mad – as, I would venture, is being proud of being anything which you are through an accident of birth, because pride needs to be a byproduct of achievement to mean anything other than babyish boasting.

Babyish boasting--

She continues:

Though I am proud to be a feminist – something I became when still a pre-teen girl – because it is something which takes effort, I’d never be so simple-minded as to say I was Proud To be A Woman, as lots of broads do these days. Why proud? You were born that way. I’m full of myself, but I’d never boast about having a vagina, very nice though it is; I boast about things I’ve worked on and stuck at – wit, generosity, spite.

By her reasoning, you cannot be proud to be something you were born as, that required no effort and that does not amount to an achievement.

And then she takes out after the endless intoning of the phrase “strong women.” She might have added that these strong women are also empowered.

Even feminist Burchill is not buying the subterfuge. Saying you are strong and empowered does not make you strong and empowered. It makes you deluded, especially if you think that you can build muscle mass by repeating over and over again that you are strong and empowered:

‘All women are strong’, goes an advert for deodorant. Really? Not even one woman is weak, cowardly, irresolute? I personally loathe the phrase Strong Woman and believe that it should be used only if the female in question can tear a telephone directory in half with her bare hands.

She adds that the woke left has now started marching down the path to misogyny:

The Handmaid’s Tale is always used as a warning against the growth of right-wing ideology, but when you see photos of Americans at the Women’s March or Swedish female politicians visiting Iran all voluntarily hijab-ing up, it’s plain to see that, like anti-Semitism, misogyny has crept up on the left when we weren’t looking.

In Great Britain,  lesbians are now supposed to feel twinges of attraction for trans women, that is, men who believe that they are women and who still sport their penile appendages. If they do not they are accused of being transphobic. Will the nonsense ever stop:

… lesbians who are not attracted to female-identifying men with penises are routinely accused of being transphobic and told that a good dose of lady-dick would sort them out. As Brendan O’Neill recently put it, much trans-activism is merely misogyny in drag.

But seriously, does anyone really believe that we ought to dictate to lesbians, to any women or to any men, whom they should find attractive.

The charge of misogyny makes some sense. As young girls are drawn into the transgender web they learn to hate being girls. They are encouraged to undergo treatments that will bring on menopause at age thirteen. They are encouraged to have double mastectomies at fourteen. And they are told that they should have a lifetime of cross sex hormone treatments, the better to erase their womanhood, finally and definitively.

Surely, there is an element of misogyny in all of this. And yet, we can only wonder how many of these male-indentifying females will be marching proudly into the boys locker room and how many of them will happily embrace the new right, defined by the Biden administration, to shower with boys.

  1. My crystal ball tells me women's sports aren't going anywhere. The details will be ironed out.

Just so you know, young people don't do group showers like yesteryear. Not since the at least the 90's. They don't even get naked in front each other anymore. Not in the locker room anyway.

What Julie Birchill is saying is a separate issue. I think she's absolutely right about pride and I laughed out loud at the image of a strong woman tearing a phone book in half.

But have no fear. I spent of good number of years at an institution without gendered bathrooms and it was weird for a couple of days and then I forgot all about it. There were also sports.

  4. Conservative pundit Quin Hilyer says a conservative judiciary will save us from the excesses of unchallenged Dem rule. To which I say, yeah right. Just like the Trumpsters on the Supreme Court kept us from Bostock.

However, on this particular issue, I do think there's a good chance the Right can venue shop and find a sympathetic federal judge who will issue a nationwide injunction. Better start moving on it.
