And you thought that nothing ever happens in New Zealand. Well, you would be right.
Nevertheless, the following story has made the Daily Mail, so it is worth noting, if only for the instant that it takes to read it.
Here it is. A teenager arrives at work for her first job. Her manager gives her some advice, in the form of a list of banalities and adages. One has heard them all before. One agrees with all of them. They constitute good advice.
Now, here’s the kicker. The teenager’s father is outraged by it all. He thinks that it’s cruel and disgusting to tell a teenager to be a responsible employee or even to tell her to be a respectable human being. Surely, it is horrifying to tell her to get over herself.
Keep in mind, she is a Gen Zer. And we all know that Gen Zers are among the most dysfunctional cohort out there right now.
Now we know that their parents made them dysfunctional. And that their parents want them to stay dysfunctional.
For your edification, here’s the advice that a manager dared offer to a teenager:
From the land that RE-elected Jacinda Ardern by landslide margin, this comes as no surprise. Stick a fork in NZ and Australia. They're done.
ReplyDeleteLife is hard, and life is real. It's a bummer, so toughen up, work hard, and get smart.
