I am not going to comment on Liz Cheney’s self-immolation. For some reason or other she has never learned the meaning of the virtue of loyalty. And therefore, her career is toast-- unless she becomes a Democrat. But, why induce nausea in my readers? And, by the bye, has anyone reflected on what she is doing to her family name?
Anyway, some have remarked that the January 6th Committee, for all of their rants about Trump’s inciting violence have completely forgotten about the violence visited on Washington, D. C. at the time when Trump was inaugurated. And they certainly do not want to talk about the insurrection that they fomented with Black Lives Matter during the spring and summer of 2020. Trust me, those were acts of political violence.
So, we quote Kevin Williamson’s call for fair and balanced judgment, for applying the same principle to both political parties:
It is very difficult to argue that political violence is unacceptable when you have spent so many years accepting it.
And, of course, Democrats have attempted to delegitimize every presidential election they have lost from 2000 onward. The main organizing idea of Democratic politics from 2016 to 2020 was that the 2016 election was somehow stolen from Hillary Rodham Clinton, who insisted that Donald Trump was an “illegitimate” president. They didn’t know it at the time, but Democrats spent those years building the political defense of the 2020 attempt to overturn the election of Joe Biden.
Obviously, this does not say that it was a good idea to storm the capital. But, it does hint at the fact that Trump is giving what he got. The only trouble is, it is generally not a good idea to stoop to the level of your opponents. An eye for an eye, they call it, was replaced by the principle-- do unto others as you would have others do unto you. It was a better principle.
And, one suspects that if the Committee succeeds at any level at marginalizing Donald Trump, they will be paving the way for a stronger Republican presidential candidate in 2024.
History works in mysterious ways.
Kevin Williamson is a Never Trumpist. He and Liz Cheney have much in common.
ReplyDeleteAnyone think the name Ashli Babbitt will find its way into the official record of finding “the truth”? Why is her killer still on the Capitol Police force? Do you even know his name? You’ve certainly heard of Kyle Rittenhouse.
Global governments — including ours especially — are terrified of the people. Once you understand this, everything starts to make sense.
For example, Pelosi is holding up the judicial protection bill in order secure security details (men with guns) for Congressional aides and staffers. While she and her ilk seek to disarm the people in violation of the Second Amendment. Why would her aides and staffers need to be protected like this? Why is it increasingly impermissible for citizens to protect themselves? Why do Soros DAs not prosecute criminals?
This is all by design. And our COVID-hypnotized population will willingly give up freedom for safety. It’s disgusting.
Expect the J6 made-for-TV special to throw gasoline on everything. Hyperbole of a whole new magnitude. It’s what Demoblicans and Republicrats do.
The Constitution was set up to prevent mob rule. How’s it goin’?

ReplyDeleteOh, let us not fool ourselves. The Cheney family is completely behind her.

ReplyDeleteSometimes it strikes me as more than bizarre how much all of it - politics, sports, religion, music - is theater. It is all about the narrative.
