The Case of Sage Blair

In principle, no parent will normally allow the state to raise his or her child. No parent willingly accepts that he or she should relinquish authority over his or her child. Such actions would constitute child abandonment, a major moral fault. 

Excepting adoption, wherein a parent declares him or herself incompetent to raise a child, nearly all parents consider bringing up a child to be a fundamental primary moral responsibility. 

Only in extreme cases can this responsibility be abrogated or removed.

In truth, the notion dates to Plato. The Greek philosopher suggested that children belong to the community, to the state. In order to produce what Plato and Socrates considered to be an ideal state, children were to be taken from their parents and raised by the state.

And yet, in today’s America government bureaucrats have now decided that, in the interest of trans rights, they should deprive children of parental care. 

Now we see some evidence of what happens when this deranged idea is put into practice. Someone somehow persuaded a teenage girl named Sage Blair that she was really a boy. Someone somehow persuaded her that she needed to transition, to become a boy, to act like a boy, to pretend that she was a boy.

This produced a series of actions that constitute nothing less than human sacrifice. 

Local government officials colluded and connived to destroy Sage Blair. Sage’s mother was powerless to stop the atrocity, but now she is suing the local authorities, as she rightly should.

Apparently, Sage, as a high school freshman, was suffering from pubescent distress. One suspects that a mental health professional diagnosed the condition as transgenderism. 

Sage was groomed, by someone who abused his professional credentials. In many cases today, mental health professionals tell parents that if a child is not allowed to transition, he or she will commit suicide. 

As the story is presented, the child was suffering from depression, self-harm, hallucinations and eating disorders. 

It does not take too much imagination to see this "treatment" as child abuse, even child sacrifice. And yet, numerous government officials were involved in the process, suggesting that the system itself has been perverted by ideologues.

It is frightening to consider that if you accept the first lie in this story, that is, that the child was really a boy trapped in a girl’s body, then the rest follows logically. This constitutes the reductio ad absurdum of a lie taken to be a higher truth, a fiction  disguised as a reality.

Note well, with transgenderism we are in the realm of delusional belief. It bears a close resemblance to body dysmorphias, cases where a man goes to the doctor and explains that his left leg is so much longer than his right leg that it must be amputated, above the knee. The sufferer will then say that if doctor does not perform the surgery, he will commit suicide.

Children who are caught up in this madness suffer. If they take puberty blockers or undergo surgical mutilation or start poisoning their bodies with opposite-sex hormones, they will feel extreme distress.

Now, the trans lobby will tell them that the problem lies in other people. They are not suffering because they are torturing themselves or are destroying their bodies, but because other people refuse to believe that they are what they think they are. 

So, it is not just that transgender people are lying to themselves. They insist that you accept the lie and treat them for what they believe themselves to be. They believe that if everyone accepts their new gender they it will become their truth. It resembles the old story of the emperor’s new clothes. Until the moment when a naive boy shouts out the truth, the emperor’s subjects buy the lie that he is decked out in imperial finery.

If your child becomes prey to a delusional belief you might well imagine that she will outgrow it. You will certainly want to assure that she does not undergo any irreversible treatments. You will protect your child, because you will understand that children outgrow fanciful ideas.

As Rick Moran explains in his report, Michele Blair was not allowed such discretion. The school board in Appomattox County went along with the transgender diagnosis, to the point where they told the teenager to use men’s restrooms.

Obviously, given the level of emotional maturity in high school children, Sage was bullied and harassed. 

Moran explains:

It was verbal, physical, sexually harassed with constant threats of rape by the male classmates,” she said of her daughter’s 2021 freshman year at Appomattox County High School. “Despite this, the school encouraged her to use the boys’ bathroom.”

So, the high school freshman ran away from home:

“The school officials were encouraging her to use the boys’ bathroom, even though they knew she was being threatened with sexual assault, so she perceived herself that she wasn’t safe and she runs away from home,” [attorney Vernadette] Broyles said.

“She runs into the arms of a waiting pedophile, who encounters her, rapes her, traffics her with two other men, and takes her across state lines into Washington, D.C., and then ultimately into Maryland.”

So, the FBI rescued Sage, but the Baltimore juvenile court system intervened to ensure that the child not be returned to her mother-- because her mother had not accepted her delusional belief. So, she was placed in a facility with adolescent boys.

One cannot quite grasp how stupid you need to be to do such a thing, but the local officials were up to the task.

Moran explained:

Khan concluded that the Blairs were not “sufficiently affirming” of her new identity, and “concocts a fabricated story of abuse and neglect by the parents and convinces a judge to keep this child in custody,” Broyles said.

While in custody, Sage was put into a juvenile facility for adolescent males “where she was again sexually assaulted, exposed to drugs, and denied medical and mental health care,” the lawsuit states.

“This is a 100-pound girl, what do you think happens in this facility?” Broyles said.

Only the most ideologically driven zealot could imagine that a group of male delinquents would, upon encountering a biological female, willingly accept her as a real boy.

Lawyer Broyles explained the basis for the mother’s lawsuit:

Broyles believes that what happened to Blair’s daughter was a “systemic failure” that will only be “remedied when ideologically driven school officials are forced to recognize it is not within their competency, their authority to be transitioning a child without the direct involvement of their parents, period.”

Broyles added, “It is frankly just cruel and irresponsible for school officials to be encouraging confusion, gender confusion in particularly traumatized young girls with histories of mental health.”
