Cat Fight

As it happens, the conflict between Donald Trump and Elon Musk is not the only public fight taking place in today’s America.

The stakes are smaller. The characters are smaller, but now  Simone Biles has taken out after Riley Gaines for being transphobic.

If it was not pathetic, we would think it was a joke. Alas, it is not.

The whole dust-up started on X after Gaines reacted to a tweet from the Minnesota State High School League congratulating the Champlin Park Rebels for winning the state championships. Comments were disabled on the post because this is the team that cheated its way to victory by having a male pitcher.

As you know, Biles is an Olympic gymnast, one of the best of all times. And Gaines has led the national war against transmania.

In truth, it is none of Biles’s business, but she managed to say something surpassingly stupid about the debate. She addressed this tweet against Gaines, who has effectively never done anything to merit it:

You’re truly sick, all of this campaigning because you lost a race. Straight up sore loser. You should be uplifting the trans community and perhaps finding a way to make sports inclusive OR creating a new avenue where trans feel safe in sports. Maybe a transgender category IN ALL sports!! But instead… You bully them… One things for sure is no one in sports is safe with you around!!!!!

Of course, Biles is wildly ignorant of the difference between men and women. She does not consider basic fairness.

So, a Twitter account, by Tandy attempts to set her straight:

Let us educate Simone Biles: PGA Tour pros average around 289-300 yards per drive, while LPGA players average around 250-260 yards 

The average fastball in MLB is around 94 mph while the FASTEST pitches in fastpitch softball, the ELITES hit the mid to upper 70s 

The women's 100m world record is 10.49 seconds while the current U.S. high school national record for the 100m dash is 9.92 seconds 

The league average three-point percentage in the NBA is currently just under 36% while in the WNBA league average is 22.8% and is while being about 12 inches closer. 

The average men's marathon finish time is around 4:21:03 while the women average 4:48:45.

And in Men’s Olympic swimming, the record in the men's 100m butterfly is 49.45 seconds while the women’s record is 55.38 seconds. Distance makes the difference more stark. The current Olympic records for the 400m freestyle are 3:39.96 set by Lukas Märtens (Germany) for men and 3:56.46 set by Katie Ledecky (USA) for women.

It’s not sexism. It’s biology.

That’s why we say, she’s fast or she’s strong “for a girl”.

It’s not an insult. It’s science.

Riley Gaines had the last word:

“All the horrific sexual abuse @Simone_Biles witnessed and spoke out against caused by one man, yet [she] believes women should be forced to strip naked in front of men to validate the man’s feelings,” the former collegiate swimmer posted to X.
