Dominique Strauss-Kahn: The View from Paris

The world entire is abuzz with talk about IMF head and presumptive French presidential candidate, Dominique Strauss-Kahn. DSK, as he is called in France, was accused of sexually assaulting a chambermaid in a New York hotel yesterday.

Dragged off an Air France jet one hour before take-off, he is currently awaiting arraignment in a Manhattan courthouse.

Naturally we all want to know how it all looks to the French. Even if you don't, you will enjoy the column just posted by Philip Gourevitch for The New Yorker. Link here. It is, at once, an excellent piece of writing, more so for having been written on the fly, and a fascinating view of the inner workings of French culture and the French mind.

I recommend it very highly.
