A Divided Europe

President Donald Trump’s first stop in Europe will be Warsaw, Poland. It’s a fitting starting off point. Poland has led the European resistance to the influx of immigrants. For all I know it is not even taking a leadership role in the fight against climate change.

When Trump meets with world leaders in Hanover, Germany he will be having face-to-face talks with Russian President Putin and Chinese President Xi. They will be trying to advance their plan to shut down the North Korea nuclear program. One notes that the boy wonder Kim Jung-un is not just sticking a finger in the eye of the United States. His antics have also started making the Chinese look bad, as in, lose face. One suspects that this will not end well for him.

Before heading to Paris to celebrate Bastille Day with France’s new president, Trump will also be facing the new leader of the international surrender brigade, German Chancellor Merkel. While Trump, Putin and Xi try to work out a solution to the problem with North Korea, Merkel will stand strong for the climate and for an open-arms policy toward Muslim refugees. Merkel represents the continuation of the disastrous Obama foreign policy.

From time to time we ought to take a glance at how the Merkel policy is working out in Germany.

Authorities in Germany (and Sweden) have taken the Obama approach. They cannot tamp down rising crime, but they can control the spread of information. And they can assure that people do not associate crimes committed by Muslims with Islam.

SHTF Plan reports:

Over the past 20 years, European cities have slowly become more ethnically diverse, as EU governments open their borders to foreign populations. And as this process has taken place, the authorities have been quick to cover up any crimes that have been committed by these populations. For instance, Swedish police are no longer allowed to describe the ethnic background of the criminals they catch, and most notably, the German government and press were desperate to cover up hundreds sexual assaults that occurred in Cologne in 2015.

However, there are certain statistics that can’t be covered up. A government can try to conceal the connection between crimes and specific ethnic groups, but they can’t cover up the overall crime statistics of an entire city. Plus, politically correct governments can’t really hide the ethnic diversity of their cities. That’s something that their progressive sensibilities command them to promote.

Fortunately, sometimes those two factors come together to give us all a good look at the relationship between immigration and crime in Europe, despite the best efforts of European governments to conceal that connection. For example, the German government recently revealed that more than half of the population of Frankfurt has a foreign background, arguably making it the most diverse major city in Germany.

How are these refugees doing? How well are they contributing to the German economy? Are they contributing at all:

SHTF continues:

49% of people with foreign backgrounds in Frankfurt live below the poverty line, compared to 23% of native Germans, and they are significantly more likely to be unemployed.

It isn’t diversity, per se. It’s the people who were welcomed by Chancellor Merkel, in a spasm of guilt:

The real problem is that Germany hasn’t properly vetted their immigrants, nor have they successfully assimilated them. Germany is inviting people into their country who have no respect for German law, and they aren’t pressuring them to join German culture. And the result is rather predictable. Germany has a large foreign population that is young, jobless, alienated from mainstream culture, and more likely to commit crimes.

In truth, they are committing crimes because that is all they know how to do.  One might say that the gods of multiculturalism do not want these people to assimilate, but, in truth, most of the refugees do not want to assimilate. Why should they undergo the indignity of learning to speak German and to work at an honest job? Better to live off of welfare and engage in criminal activity on the side.

Of course, countries like Poland and Austria are trying to shut down the immigrant flow. Thus the prophecy offered only applies to some of Europe, to the more enlightened nations that embody the Obama principle in foreign policy:

It will be a divided continent, filled with ethnic enclaves, no-go zones, civil unrest, and crime. If they don’t see the folly of multiculturalism, within a generation every city in Europe will be like Frankfurt, or perhaps even worse.

If they imagine that the tide of refugees will be assimilated, either now or late, they are dreaming.

In other news, German authorities are bracing for more terrorism. Reuters reports:

BERLIN Germany should brace for further attacks given growing numbers of potential Islamist militants, top security officials warned on Tuesday, vowing to step up efforts to prosecute, convict and deport suspects.

Germany was hit by five Islamist attacks in 2016, including a December attack on a Berlin Christmas market that killed 12 people, while an additional seven attacks failed or were thwarted, Hans-Georg Maassen, president of Germany's BfV domestic intelligence agency, told reporters.

"We must expect further attacks by individuals or terror groups," Maassen said, citing growing evidence and over 1,000 expressions of concern from the general public about growing risks.

"Islamist terrorism is the biggest challenge facing the BfV and we see it as one of the biggest threats facing the internal security of Germany," he said.

The nations of Central and Eastern Europe are trying to put a stop to this. Michael Walsh explains:

But whereas the Romans brought civilization and Christianity to North Africa, north- and sub-Saharan Africa are bringing chaos along with them on the return trip across the Mediterranean. But as Italy, France and parts of Germany continue to morph into a third-world slum, the countries of central and eastern Europe have had enough of cultural diversity.

Now, Angela Merkel will be lecturing Donald Trump on the joys of Muslim refugees and… of course… will be trying to persuade him to rejoin the Paris Climate Accord.

Good to keep your eye off the ball.

  1. The Germans imported Turks after the war to work in their factories. I do not know whether they tried to get them integrated into their culture, but I recall reading that the first generation of Turkish children were not accepted as German citizens.

  2. My goodness, quoting from a clickbait site like shtfplan.com?

Here's another article by the author, Daniel Lang, also worrying about civil war, and an important video link telling us that 281 million Americans will be wiped out in the next 6 months. That's a pretty specific number.

I thought I was a worrier, but I'm definitely an underachiever.

  3. That may be a valid take on Mr Lang. The name doesn't ring a bell with me.

Having said that, do you dispute the facts as presented? If so, which ones, specifically, and what are the actual facts?

Researching sources is often easier than researching facts, so the first step is to ignore questionable sources, or your have a questionable source of interest that references other possibly better sources, you can ignore the questionable one and go to the original(s). Just like this blog shouldn't be considered a source, while reading it might encourage going to its sources.

In this case Lang referenced a number of sources, so we can check them one by one, like the first one:
    http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/europe/swedish-police-are-not-allowed-to-give-descriptions-of-alleged-criminals-so-as-not-to-sound-racist-a6810311.html 14 January 2016

Claim: Swedish police are no longer allowed to describe the ethnic background of the criminals they catch.

It looks true, along other basic information, although 18 months old, its also worth looking up followup information if we really cared.

Independent: The letter specifies that, for everyday crimes such as burglary, basic information such as ethnicity, nationality, skin colour and height should not be given. It was written by Stockholm police press officers Wolf Gyllander and Carina Skagerlind, and said crimes should be reported externally via the police website, without descriptions. “We want to avoid pointing out ethnic groups as criminal,” said Mr Gyllander.

It does seem like a tricky problem. If a suspect is not caught you definitely need some sort of description, but once a crime is caught including information irrelevant to their crime risks painting others with the similar characterizations as potentially criminal as well.

The suppression approach would make more sense to me if gender was also excluded, given more crimes are committed by males, but perhaps males are proud of the disproportionate antisocial behavior of their brethren, so don't need special protections to avoid being scapegoated.

  5. "Researching sources is often easier than researching facts..."

    Well, that's certainly true. :-D

And it explains the popularity of ad hominem argument.

  6. TW: And it explains the popularity of ad hominem argument.

It explains why reputation matters, and why holding a positive one so difficult in these days of partisan facts.

And when you have a website called shtfplan.com, you can call that a marketing ploy for its target audience.

Thank the lucky stars you're ineffectual.

Absolutely. Of course I also live in a world where saying "We're going to build a wall and our neighbors are going to pay for it." makes one a bully and a jerk unworthy of a single vote.

So I'm clearly the ineffectual and ignorant one for being off by close to 63 million.
