Donald Trump's Omarosa Problem

Donald Trump’s Omarosa problem is obviously self-inflicted. In tennis they call it an unforced error. Every time Trump attacks Omarosa he is reminding us that he hired her.

Anyone who watched Omarosa on television would have known better than to give her a job in the White House. Anyone who had examined her work history would never have considered hiring her for anything. Anyone who thinks that she just turned incompetent and untrustworthy and treacherous has not examined her work history.

As it turns out, Omarosa got her start in politics working for then Vice President Al Gore. She worked for the Clinton administration.

What did Clinton people think of her work?

The Political Insider has the story:

But this isn’t Omarosa’s first series of White House problems. She worked in the Clinton Administration under Vice President Al Gore. As Al Gore’s former office administrator Mary Margaret Overbey said at the time, Omarosa “was the worst hire (the Office of the Vice President) ever made.”

People magazine reported in 2004, she was “banished from four jobs in two years with the Clinton administration.” The White House personnel office transferred her to the Commerce Department briefly. At her last short-lived administration role, Cheryl Shavers, the former Under Secretary for Technology at the Clinton Commerce Department, opined, “She was asked to leave as quickly as possible, she was so disruptive. One woman wanted to slug her.” Omarosa only lasted in that final role for several weeks.

Another Clinton administration official reported she was fired “because she couldn’t get along with people.” Another former Gore staffer noted, “she didn’t do her job, and it got everyone in trouble.”

Given what you now know, would you have ever hired Omarosa?

  1. Might be an unforced error, Doc, but then again, Trump's weak link isn't concerns about his judgment in hiring and firing of minor subordinates

On the other hand, Trump is making gains with black males. And I have an inkling that Omarosa is absolutely loathed and despised by a large majority of black men. And how many in Trump's base have a fondness for this vicious, back stabbing woman. I dont think it hurts Trump at all to goad Omarosa into further nastiness.

  2. Good Lord, she's like a tab of plague bacteria and cyanide wrapped in radioactive asbestos.

Anyway, that's how I would have approached her. So I'm not sure what DJT was thinking retaining her in the White House.

  3. Customarily excellent posting, Sir.

I don't believe I would have cared much for him personally, had I met him, but life has certainly taught me the unerring wisdom of Cicero's advice that:

"Gratitude is not only the greatest of the virtues, but is the parent of all the others".

No-one should have ever expected anything better from this wretched ingrate.

  4. Haven't we all had experiences with people like this if you have been in management? You see something in this person that if helped could make this person a real asset, but in reality becomes just the opposite. Usually you begin to ask yourself what did I see in this person. Eventually you fined a way to isolate or dismiss. In this situation it would seem that Al Gore, the Clintons and president Trump did as well. Everyone of them fired" her for a variety of reasons and in some cases the same attribute/characteristics.
There comes a time when every person who manages people have to recognize that they made a mistake and need to learn from those mistakes.
