The Obama Legacy Crumbles in the Middle East

Another piece of the Obama legacy is crumbling. A few cheers, please. As part of the Obama administration policy of siding with Iran against Israel and Saudi Arabia, Jeremiah Wright’s protege made a few empty threats against Syrian president Assad and then walked away from the Syrian civil war.

The result: Iran moved in. It started setting up bases designed to attack or to harass Israel. It was fine with the Obama administration, because it would be a good intermediary before it could see its higher goal attained: it wanted to smooth the path for Iran to have a nuclear weapon, one that it could drop on Tel Aviv.

As of now I have not seen the new documents regarding the Obama administration attacks on Gen. Michael Flynn and George Papadopoulos but it seems clear, from a first glance, that Obama hated Flynn for defending Israel and for not accepting the Iran nuclear deal.

I have suspected for some time that the impeachment of Donald Trump was based more on its policy toward Israel than on its policy toward the Ukraine. After all, whistleblower Eric Ciaramella was openly Islamist, and openly supported an anti-Semitic professor when he was at Yale.

Now that the Trump administration has reconfigured regional alliances in the Middle East, has walked out of the Iran Nuclear Deal and has severely sanctioned Iran, the tide of battle has shifted. Israel, with the overt or tacit support of the United States and Saudi Arabia, is driving Iran out of Syria.

So writes the Times of Israel:

Iranian forces are pulling out of Syria and closing military bases there, Israeli defense officials said Tuesday, amid increasing reports of Israeli airstrikes on Iran-linked militias in the country in recent months, including two such incidents late Monday night in which 14 Iran-linked fighters were reported killed.

The Israeli officials refused to comment on these reported attacks, maintaining Israel’s policy of ambiguity, under which it generally acknowledges taking action against Iran in Syria without specifically confirming individual strikes, under the assumption that public confirmation increases the likelihood of retaliation.

Though Israel’s fight against Iran in Syria has been ongoing for nearly a decade, after Tehran began sending its troops and its proxies into Syria at the outbreak of the country’s civil war in 2011, recent months have seen an increase in the number of strikes against Iran-linked sites in the country, targeting locations across the country with the highest concentration around Syria’s capital Damascus.

It continues:

The officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said that this effort appears to be bearing fruit as Iranian forces have begun leaving the country, evacuating a small number of military bases previously under their control in the process. Independently, there has also been a drop in the number of Shiite militias operating in Syria, though this decrease is because of the natural progression of the civil war and not because of Israel’s actions.

The number of transport flights from Iran to Syria, bringing advanced munitions into the country, have also dropped dramatically in the past half-year, apparently the result of Israeli strikes on the airports in Syria where these flights would land.

The current Iranian retreat seems also to be connected to the death of Quds force leader Qassem Soleimani. For the record, and because no one seems to pay attention, the word Quds is a term for Jerusalem. The Iranian goal is to destroy Israel and recover Jerusalem.

We recall that mental challenged Joe Biden and many other democrats denounced the assassination of Soleimani, for having made the world more dangerous. Apparently, they were wrong, but they were sticking up for their ally.

How many Jewish American voters will hold Biden, a remnant of the Obama administration, accountable for that administration’s policies?

The defense officials partially credited the successes against Iran in Syria to the US strike on the commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’s expeditionary Quds Force, Qassem Soleimani, earlier this year, which left Tehran without one of its most skilled generals.

  1. Hey, whatever happened to the end of the world as Iran ramps up terror attacks on US and allied targets in the wake of our terrible action to assassinate Soleimani? Has that passed into the memory hole along with Russian collusion or is it still a thing?

Is Iran more or less effective in their goals with or without Soleimani?

Hard to keep track of everything our elite class of big brains gets incorrect on a weekly basis.

  2. My fellow Jews, if anything, are consistent. Whoever is the Democratic nominee, count on 70-75% of them voting the party line. As long as the nominee is not an overt anti-Semite, they will follow like sheep.

  3. UbuMac - I shall now be referring to it (i.e. a prediction which soon proves to be almost 100% incorrect) as ‘a Ferguson’ in honour of our esteemed epidemiologist Neil ‘Wrong about everything’ Ferguson (my lord, I call CJD, SARS, Swine Flu, and Foot and Mouth to the stand). His pants are obviously hot but his models are stone cold.

  4. "How many Jewish American voters will hold Biden, a remnant of the Obama administration, accountable for that administration’s policies?" Not nearly enough.

Anon sayeth, "As long as the nominee is not an overt anti-Semite, they will follow like sheep." Like sheep to the slaughter, also. Dems are NOT their friends.
