Miscellany

An old song once intoned: Some people never learn.

So, as a beer company is discovering that the nation’s beer drinkers are not quite as enamored of transmania as are the denizens of the Ivy League, the United States Navy has chosen a drag queen as a brand ambassador.

His name is Harpy Daniels. And, yes, I do understand that transvestism is not the same as transsexuality, but, allow me.

Evidently, our awesomely powerful fighting forces no longer understand what it means to be a fighting force. The Biden administration has done everything in its power to diminish and to embarrass the American military. Obviously, nations around the world have taken note.

But, not just in their willingness to invade their neighbors. No, nations have learned that America is fast becoming a decadent backwater, and that if Biden and his ilk get their way, America is not going to continue to be a world leader for very long. You might think that this is overly pessimistic, but other nations are taking serious note of America's decline. If you don't like it-- I don't-- you need to become part of a massive cultural rectification.

As for Bud Light, it has become ground zero in the culture wars, to the point that its sales are cratering, its marketing executives have been relieved of duty, and its executives are doing their level best to restore the brand.

Good luck, fools. As of now, cases of Bud Light are being given away for free. As the old saying goes, water finds its own level. Or better, the free market has spoken.

Anyway, the satirical site, The Babylon Bee has some news you can use. (via Maggie’s Farm) For you males out there, the Bee has offered some advice that you have been dying to receive. The topic-- how to be a feminist husband.

Of course, enquiring minds want to know how to be a feminist husband.

Some of the counsel is obvious-- burn her bras and let her open doors for you.

And, of course, sharing housework and child rearing is now verboten. A strong empowered woman can hold down a job, raise children and maintain a functioning household. The Bee suggests that a good feminist husband will let his wife show off her power by doing it all.

As for her cooking, if your feminist wife deigns to do so, you should constantly criticize it. The Bee explains that a real feminist can take it. I am not sure what that means, but I leave it for you to interpret.

Finally, the Bee recommends that you go out of your way to explain to your feminist wife what feminism is. Yes, indeed, because she doesn’t know and because when you harass her with your mindless drivel about her most deeply held beliefs, you will be one step closer to divorce court.

Good luck.

And then there is the Tucker Carlson issue. One notes, with some satisfaction, that some of those who were defended by Carlson have rushed out to defend him now. It is the right and proper thing to do. Our plaudits for them.

Of course, Carlson often invited guests who came from the liberal side of the political spectrum. People like Glenn Greenwald and Naomi Wolf.

To his credit, he gave them a platform to express their opinions and did not hector or badger them. Now they are showing what they are made of, character-wise. So, now, Greenwald has been defending Carlson on Twitter, especially now that the Fox crowd has chosen to leak some of his more embarrassing texts.

And Naomi Wolf wrote an extended defense of Carlson for the Epoch Times. She explains how her more liberal friends treated her like a criminal for going on the Tucker Carlson show.

Doesn’t this tell us something decidedly disagreeable about the way today’s liberals think. And certainly, it demonstrates that today’s liberals live in a cesspool of illiberalism.

One feels compelled to remark that Fox treated Carlson in a grossly shabby way. Tossing him out on his ear, without giving him a chance to bid his viewers adieu, is simply lowlife behavior.

One assumes that Tucker will land on his feet. One is not quite as optimistic about Fox News.

I am happy to invite one and all to subscribe to my Substack. It's easy and painless.
