Does Biden Want to Defund the Police?

Ask yourself this: has any journalist, of any political stripe, ever fact-checked a Democratic politician during an interview or even a debate? Remember when Candy Crowley fact-checked Mitt Romney during the 2012 presidential debates. Has any journalist ever shown such flagrant partisanship toward a Democrat?

The question is ludicrous, because no one can even imagine that our fourth state, the propaganda arm of the Democratic Party, would ever do anything that might make a Democratic politician look bad.

As we speak, these intrepid seekers of truth are working overtime to portray the protesters who are engaging in wanton violence and are destroying American cities as unrepresentative of the peaceful law-abiding demonstrations sweeping the nation.

When it comes to President Trump, journalists seem to believe that they are on a mission to destroy the man, to make him look bad, to harass and bully him, to do whatever damage they can. Of course, it has not crossed their pea-brains that assaulting the president of the United States, whoever holds the title, is assaulting the president of the United States. In other countries it would be considered seditious, inciting to rebellion.

Anyway, Chris Wallace had his chance to fact check the president in an interview yesterday. And he did not miss his chance. He was not functioning as a journalist, but as an arm of the Biden campaign.

Matt Margolis reports on the exchange:

Social media is abuzz over the release of a clip of President Trump’s interview with Fox News’ Chris Wallace, where the Fox News host “fact-checked” Trump’s claim that Joe Biden wants to defund the police.

“It’s gotten totally out of control and it’s really because they want to defund the police, and Biden wants to defund the police,” Trump said in the clip.

“Sir, he does not,” Wallace shot back.

If we wanted to be nit-picky here, we would ask how Wallace knows what Biden does or does not want to do. The issue, as stated explicitly by the president, is not what Biden’s campaign literature claims, but what he wants to do.

Considering that the radical leftist base of the Democratic, led by a multitude of Democratic governors and mayors, is hard at work defunding the police, it is not a stretch to say that the Democratic presidential candidate is on-board with the policy. Did he call any of them and ask them not to defund the police? I leave it to your imagination.

Anyway, as the story is being reported, Trump was wrong and Wallace was right. Moreover, the media is reporting that Trump has failed to come up with any evidence to the effect that Biden wants to defund the police. When you get caught out in a lie, why not double down.

But, Matt Margolis points out, Biden said precisely that. The story was reported by Fox News:

Joe Biden said in an interview Wednesday that some funding should “absolutely” be redirected from police, amid calls from some in his party to “defund the police” in the wake of the protests across the country.

Biden’s campaign has said he does not support defunding the police. But in a Now This interview with activist Ady Barkan, the presumptive Democratic nominee said that police forces don’t need surplus military equipment, saying this is what leads them to “become the enemy” in a community.

“But do we agree that we can redirect some of the [police] funding?” Barkan asked Biden.

“Yes, absolutely,” said the former vice president.

Now, if legalistic swill is your beat, you might say that Biden only said that he wanted to redirect some police funding. And that redirecting some of the money is not quite the same as defunding the police.

But, for certain, it is not the role of an interviewer to step into an interview by taking sides against the president, and thus, doing the bidding of the Biden campaign.Of course Biden was using weasel words, words that are slightly ambiguous, the better to allow his shills in the media to rush forward to defend him.

It’s yet another embarrassing moment for the not-so-mainstream media.

While we can certainly level justified criticism at police, deaths from no knock warrants executed at the wrong house, for example, have we thought this defunding through? Do we really want fewer officers on the street? I am sure most people in a major city think response times are too long now. Do they want that to be even longer? I doubt it.

As with all government operations, work arounds can be found. My son told me that one city responded with a budget plan to move various police operations to other related services, such as 911, criminal fire investigations, and the like. Same budget, same personnel, different offices. Everybody wins. The mayor can claim to be a socially responsive hero, the city still has police.

Nobody believes Joe Biden has the faculties to make decisions anyway.

Whoever talked the President into giving this interview to Chris Wallace should be fired. I cannot understand why the President would give a interview to this guy except someone decided that Trump needed to be on a Sunday show. Insane.

I despise, detest, and distrust the media. Especially the NYT and its little dog WaPoo, too!

Chris Wallace is the walking embodiment of a Swamp Thing. Someone’s derrière needs to hit the pavement after being cast from the White House Communication Office. Hard.

I’ve never understood why Rush Limbaugh likes Chris Wallace and goes on his show. I know what Wallace gets (a bump in ratings), but I don’t know what Rush gets.

Today’s Sunday talks are a complete waste of time, and have been since Tim Russert died. It’s an endless parade of the self-important —hosts, guests, roundtable/panel discussions, the whole lot — all scripted answers, parroting talking points, painfully sincere, phony surprise, faux outrage, etc.

Big mistake by Trump, too. He should know better by now.
