Musk Derangement Syndrome

We have reached peak Musk Derangement Syndrome. The radical left has taken to defining itself by its enemies.

Charles Krauthammer, a psychiatrist, invented the term-- Bush Derangement Syndrome. It morphed into Trump DS and now into Musk DS.

On Sunday, Musk’s SpaceX brought two stranded astronauts, Butch Wilmore and Sunny Williams home from space. They had been stranded for nine months because Boeing did not trust itself to bring them back safely. 

The world should have stood up and cheered the great Musk accomplishment. In large part the media did not. Or else commentators declared that the astronauts were not stranded in space because Biden had decided to politicize their return, but had chosen to stay there.

The media could not bring itself to cheer Musk because Musk is working for one Donald Trump. You see, associating with the devil makes you evil. It means that we should destroy the automobiles that we had recently declared to be the solution to the climate crisis.

Now, Tampon Tim, that would be former vice presidential candidate Tim Walz, cheers the decline in Tesla stock. Hoping that people will lose money is not a good look. It is small and nasty.

You would almost think that it’s an insurrection. As Scott Jennings described the left on CNN:

"That's the American Left right now—one angry mob after another, willing to take things into their own hands—up to keying, firebombing, and otherwise vandalizing cars, car dealerships, and charging stations."

They do not build anything. They do not know how to govern. They only know how to undermine someone else’s efforts to do the one or the other.

In fairness, some people who are infatuated with stupid analogies have declared that firebombing a Tesla dealership is roughly comparable to boycotting Bud Light. Unfortunately, terrorist actions are not the same as product boycotts, as in, drinking Miller Lite. 

As happens in the Middle East, the people who are incapable of building anything take serious umbrage over the success of their neighbors. Destroying what others have built makes them feel powerful, as though they have overcome the shame of their own failures.

Elon Musk builds cars and rockets and communications systems and neuralinks. He is a master builder. His achievements are public knowledge. They command respect. In the end, he will prevail. Objective fact wins out over mass delusions.

The American left has no respect for someone who builds things, who created the electric car industry, whose rockets just retrieved two astronauts who had been stranded in space.

Of course, the rescue mission made the Biden administration look bad. It made it look like it could have done a better job. Thus, no small number of leftists were rooting for failure. If they were not rooting for failure they were threatening and harassing Tesla dealerships and Tesla owners.

Before Musk became part of the Trump team, the world loved his cars. People who buy them like them and would buy another one. Now, the awesome power of the left has chosen to threaten the brand and even the owners of said cars. 

Punishing people who own Teslas because Musk is associated with the Trump administration tells us why the American left is unfit to govern. They have nothing to offer beyond empty headed emotional outbursts, designed to punish those who own or build Teslas.
