Some people believe that California represents America's future. As California goes, so goes the nation.
If so, we, as a nation, have a serious problem. One need but read Joel Kotkin's analysis of the current state of California in City Journal. Link here.
Kotkin's article is detailed, dispassionate, and fair. It identifies new progressive policies as the major culprits in the decline and fall of California.
Kotkin shows how an empowered coalition of public-sector unions and environmental activists has pretty much destroyed the state's economy. California dreaming is not yet a nightmare like Detroit, but it has surely become a very bad dream.
