Under the Trump administration illegal immigration to America has
dropped precipitously. And, without even building the wall.
Western Europe, however, has allowed itself to be overrun by
migrants. It will suffer high unemployment rates, increasing crime rates, more
rape culture and the general disintegration of the social fabric. In Eastern
Europe, where they have blocked entry to refugees, none of these problems
exist.
Australia seems to have taken a page from the Eastern
European attitude toward immigration. It blocks what it calls “undesirables”
from entering the nation. Rather than welcoming them and then trying to find out who they
are, the Aussies refuse to allow them entry. Naturally, human rights groups are
complaining.
Reuters has the story (via Maggie’s Farm):
Australia
said on Sunday it is stopping “undesirables” such as terrorists, pedophiles,
organized criminals and drug smugglers from boarding flights to the country,
defending its hardline immigration policy that has drawn criticism from rights
groups.
Immigration
Minister Peter Dutton said that Australian Border Force Airline Liaison
Officers were operating in major transit airports to push those threats ”beyond
our borders”.
Where
other countries “allow people to arrive and then assess the threat then”, the
“Australian model” was to bar those considered a threat.
“(Liaison
officers) try to identify the threats – particularly given that we’ve got
foreign fighters coming back through Southeast Asia and all over – the idea is
to stop them getting on planes,” the minister told the Nine Network.
Those refugees who cannot be sent home are sent to detention
camps. Which might be a good incentive not to try to enter the nation.
Reuters continues:
Under
its policy on asylum seekers arriving by boat, Australia turns back
unauthorized vessels at sea to their port of origin when it can and sends those
it cannot to controversial camps in the South Pacific for long-term detention.
Earlier
this year, the government announced it would raise the bar for handing out
citizenships by lengthening the waiting period, adding a new “Australian
values” test and raising the standard for English language as part of a shake
up of its immigration program.
My Lord… a values test… a language
competence test. How come Angela Merkel and her open arms friends never thought
of such a thing?

OFFSHORE detention camps, we note, so they don't get to set foot in Australia. It helps to be an island continent.
Oz signed the 1951 Convention Relating to the Status of Refugees and the 1967 Protocol, so refugees (meaning, someone who "has a well-founded fear of persecution for reasons of race, religion, nationality, political opinion or membership in a particular social group") are legit mostly legit.
The Convention's Article 9 has a national security exception for refugee rights, so what they're doing appears legal.

Don't believe the Australian government is tough or anti-immigration. In the last five years around 1,000,000 people have legally immigrated to Australia. Our total population is 24,000,000.
Most of those who went to off shore detention centres ended up living in Australia, it's all about image not reality.
Our government is every bit as treasonous as yours.
