On the Fox News show, Outnumbered today we saw a series of
clips from Obama administration officials, all of whom defended the policy of
not calling Islamist terrorists Islamist terrorists.
To a man and woman these officials argued that it didn’t matter
what you called it. What mattered was what you were going to do about it.
To which Kirsten Powers replied, roughly: if it doesn’t
matter what you call it why are they bending over backwards not to call it
Islamic terrorism.
End of story.

It matters desperately enough to avoid the term altogether.
Suspicious behavior, that.
Words mean things. Words show where you stand. For a guy who endlessly campaigns around the country using an equally endless litany of pejoratives against the loyal domestic opposition, he is remarkably silent on where our true international threats lie -- and, most importantly, who they are.
Most importantly, bravo Kirsten. While I disagree with her about a great many things, I am comfortable in my belief that she doesn't buy into either side's talking points. She calls it like she sees it, and she's one of the few women who disagree with their fellow empaneled make journalists without sounding like a silly, sniping schoolyard girl. Kudos for that. Actually, the ladies in regular rotation on Fox News' "Special Report" all-star panel deserve this respect and applause: Kirsten Powers, Mara Liasson, Nina Easton and A.B. Stoddard. That's a standard of vixen verbosity that all femijournalists should aspire to. I am truly grateful for them.
