Explaining Obama's Behavior

Brussels is burning. You might think that it’s only Belgium’s problem, but the terrorists did target Americans. They blew up the terminal that had the most American airlines and chose a subway near the American embassy.

Thus, they were targeting America and Americans. We do not yet know how many Americans they killed or injured, but certainly the terrorists did significant damage to us and to our allies.

In response, President Barack Obama shrugged his shoulders and went to a baseball game where he did the wave with Raoul Castro. He appeared on a Cuban comedy show and topped it off last night by doing the tango at a state dinner in Argentina.

To be fair, Obama insisted that he had no higher priority than to defeat the group he calls ISIL. But, he insisted that these terrorists were no real threat to America. They are not going to destroy the country—downtown Manhattan, perhaps, but not America. He said that terrorism was not an “existential” threat to America, borrowing the term that has often been used to describe a threat that Israel faces every day. Need we mention that, thanks to Obama, this threat has increased considerably of late. And to give Obama his due, he did declare that his policy was working and that he was going to continue his trip to Latin America.

Obama is complacent. He wants everyone to be complacent about Islamist terrorism. So much so that he refuses even to name it as such. Of course, complacency invites attacks. And the guilt that underlies the complacency suggests that we have it coming, anyway.

The Daily Mail places the president’s activities in context:

In Brussels police are still desperately hunting a dangerous terrorist after he fled a triple-suicide bombing in the city that left 34 dead, as officials search for news on U.S. citizens who went missing during the attack and medics tend to nine more Americans lying wounded in hospital.

Meanwhile in Buenos Aires President Barack Obama was dancing the night away with wife Michelle at a glitzy state dinner alongside Argentine President Mauricio Macri and his first lady Juliana Awada as part of a two-day state visit.

Despite increasing calls from the likes of Donald Trump and Ted Cruz for the President to return home in the wake of the Brussels attack, Obama showed his determination to carry on regardless Wednesday night.

At the end of the state dinner, the Obamas were pulled abruptly onto the dance floor by a pair of Latin dancers providing the entertainment.

At first, the woman in the shimmering gold dress seemed to content to twirl with her partner, but then she made a beeline for the president and beckoned him to the floor.

The president, who has been known to break into song on occasion but has rarely shown off his moves, declined her invitation several times, but she wasn't to be deterred and she soon had him sashaying across the floor. It was unclear if the slightly clunky President had been having lessons. Mrs Obama meanwhile tangoed with the male dancer nearby.

Does Obama recognize that he is embarrassing our nation, that he is making us look smaller and weaker? Forget for a moment what Obama should be doing. His actions show that he is not leading the world. His actions show that America has abrogated its responsibility as leader of the world and leader of NATO.

He is more comfortable palling around with Communist dictators and third-world Latin American nations. There he is acting doing as his ideology tells him: in diminishing America he is atoning for America’s sins toward the nations to the South. Keep in mind, leftists hold it as an article of faith that Cuban Communism failed because America forced it to fail and that the problems suffered by South Americans are largely the fault of American colonialism.

Obama believes that America needs primarily to do penance for its sins toward non-white peoples. Why else would he compare the Castro revolution in Cuba with the American War for Independence and call them both wars of liberation?

Keep in mind, as you should always have in mind, that Obama is Jeremiah Wright’s protégé. If you understand that you will understand his actions.

Obama is not at war against Islam. By his actions he is showing that he is at war against white privilege. Why should he care about the light-skinned European imperialists who were attacked in Brussels? Why should he care about the French colonialists who were murdered in the attacks in Paris.

To a practitioner of black liberation theology, the Muslim insurgency in Europe is payback for centuries of oppression. The Palestinians have led the charge because they have been victims of Western civilization. After all, the Israeli-Palestinian conflict has been a laboratory for terrorism. And the European left has tended to side with the Palestinians. To their sophisticated minds, the Palestinians have been oppressed by white Europeans.

Obama does not say it, but his actions speak far louder than his words: he believes that European Muslims have been the victims of racial discrimination and thus have the right to revolt against their oppressors. He believes that white Europeans have segregated their Muslim neighbors and thus that the Muslims have a right to revolt and to burn down their cities.

So, the ship of state is leaderless and the American people are afraid. They are afraid because their president does not see a threat. He sees a struggle by people of color against their white oppressors

Charles Krauthammer noted last night on Special Report. National Review quotes him:

“He [Obama] thinks it is the background noise of our time,” Krauthammer continued. ”He has said this openly in interviews. The reason everybody is exercised is because the media is hyping it. He says, if it bleeds, it leads, so people are afraid as a result of media ratings.”

However, the public is rightly worried, Krauthammer continued: “People are justly afraid. And that under his watch, ISIL has gone from nonexistence to now having a presence in at least nine countries, having a safe haven, and having the capacity in one week an attack in West Africa in the Ivory Coast, an attack in Turkey, an attack in Brussels. That’s a threat and he does not believe it is.”

But, what should Obama do? He should cut short his trip and look as though he takes the Brussels terrorist attack seriously. But, when he goes out to party and to cheer a baseball game he looks as though he is celebrating what happened in Belgium.

Unfortunately, none of it is surprising. Anyone who ever imagined that Barack Obama would put his role as leader of the nation ahead of his commitment to the theological ravings of Jeremiah Wright has missed the point completely.

I am not sure on this one Stuart. You can look at it from the point of view that by not rushing home, he is not allowing the terrorists to dictate his/America's life. The attacks seem a bit to coincidental to this trip for me.

I was not thinking as much about whether or not he rushed home, but about his celebratory attitude at these somewhat frivolous events.

Elect a fraud as president, with a chip on his shoulder about America, and this is what you get.

Mystery solved.

Actually, since you're the shrink, why not give us an expose on this sad bastards childhood as a way of explanation for his lack of "getting it."?

I'm no doctor, but if I'd never met my father till I was ten, and that lasted all of fifteen minutes in an airport, and my mother traded me in to my grandparents, for a better academic degree studying the fascinating habits of Indonesian blacksmiths, I'd probably be as fucked up as this clown. But you're the doctor, so lets have some doctoring.

If "white privilege" is so pervasive, horrible, amoral and inescapable, please explain how Obama got elected.

white guilt

Ignatius Acton Chesterton OCD said...

Agreed. And that negates this clever nonsense about "white privilege." Does Obama have half the "white privilege" because he's half-white? Or is he a victim of "white privilege" because he's half-black?

Or, instead, is he a privileged victim who gets to play both sides? That sounds more like it. More arugula, please...

This "white privilege" idea is a great racket. It's another example of "Heads I win, tails you lose." Or, better yet, it's the latest form of "Do you still beat your wife?" What is preposterous is the heady white liberal who says "You can't recognize white privilege, because you're white." Well, okay smarty-pants, then how the hell do you recognize it? You're white, too.

Talk about a rigged game! Like so much in our hipster culture, it's powered by self-congratulation and delivered by the Glowing Box.

Question: What would have to happen for Obama to wage a real war against ISIS? Because I don't see it.

I am glad that Obama is acting like this. He is putting action to his socialist, communist beliefs. It is easier for the public to understand his policies and philosophy when he acts them out.

This is a weakness in Obama. The socialist revolution is not yet secure, but he is acting as if it is. Will the public understand?

No, America is not afraid. America is totally on board with what Obama does, and his non-white constituency absolutely reveres him for "keepin' it real".

And while this is going on, students at Emory University are "traumatized" by chalk scribblings of "Trump 2016" found on campus.

And many miles away, there's a shadow on the door of a cottage on the shore of a dark Scottish lake.

And can anyone say that Obama would not get re-elected easily if he could run for a third term?

Yes, the Emory students are most impressive.

Stuart: ...the terrorists did target Americans. They blew up the terminal that had the most American airlines and chose a subway near the American embassy.

This is pure speculation.

Ignatius Acton Chesterton OCD said...

Ares, you are a ridiculous person.

If your statement about "pure speculation" is true, your assertion of "pure speculation" is pure speculation.

By the way, saying "pure speculation" reeks of certainty. So much for your crass, chiding assertions about others' absolute thinking and either-or propositions.

Two can play this game.

It's easy to be a critic. Don't be a coward. Or an ignoramus.

Look at it on Google images. Examine how the airline counters in thag Brussels airport terminal are laid out. Then look at how close the subway bomb blast is to the American embassy. Make your own conclusions.

But do make a conclusion of some kind. Don't be a pest. Have some self respect.

If "refusing to jump to conclusions" is jumping to conclusions, then I'm guilty as charged.

There's no downside to letting police do their jobs and refusing the credibility of armchair detectives from 6000 miles away.

Ignatius Acton Chesterton OCD said...

That's right, Ares. You're the rational, restrained, logical one 'round these parts.

You just keep believing that's, and you'll be just fine.

IAC, given up to a 50-50 chance we're going to elect a president who says with humble innocence when challenged on spreading a hoax "Now, I don't know. What do I know about it? All I know is what's on the Internet" it might be a good time to advocate a higher standard of knowledge.

I assume this is the origin of the claim the Brussel's attack was targetting Americans, California Republican House Representative Devin Nunes, and chair of the United States House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence.

At least he qualifies it as a personal opinion.

“From my vantage point, it does look like an attack on Americans,” Rep. Devin Nunes (R-Calif.) told reporters off the House floor on Wednesday. “It looks like it was targeted towards Americans to some degree.”

Nunes cautioned that the conclusion is his own, and not necessarily that of U.S. intelligence agencies.

“We may never know, but from my vantage point, this looks like those locations, to me, look like places where you would hit Americans,” he added. “It looks suspicious.”

IAC, better than mind-reading intent, we have facts of results, at least two Americans killed. Why not stick with the facts?

A U.S. official told reporters in Brussels Friday that at least two Americans were among those killed in the terror attacks in that city Tuesday. It wasn't immediately clear who the official was referring to.

The word came with U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry visiting Brussels to express his condolences to the Belgian people.

In addition, family members said a brother and sister, both Dutch citizens who had been living in New York City and were among those missing following the Brussels attacks, were killed, their family says.

Sascha and Alexander Pinczowski have relatives in the Netherlands. They were returning to the U.S. when they lost their lives, CBS News was told.

It reminds me that the 9/11 attacks also had a global impact of victims, while Saudi Arabia, with no victims, was home breeder of the majority of terrorists is still our one of BFFs, even as they try to flatline our oil production in a price war.
