"Though much is taken, much abides; and though
We are not now that strength which in old days
Moved earth and heaven, that which we are, we are,
One equal temper of heroic hearts,
Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will
To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield."

Yes, an excellent and convincing speaker.

Perhaps Hannan's confidence will encourage him to aspire to replace resigning Prime Minister David Cameron? I'm sure he'd get a lot of support, assuming the Conservative party wants to lead this transition process.

------
Daniel John Hannan (b.1971) is a British politician, journalist, and author who is a Member of the European Parliament, representing South East England for the Conservative Party. He is also the Secretary-General of the Alliance of European Conservatives and Reformists (AECR), and is an advocate of localism and a Eurosceptic.

He has been named by The Telegraph as one of the 100 most-influential people on the centre-right in the United Kingdom for the last four years: peaking as the tenth-most influential in 2009. This was up from 86th in 2008. He fell to 33rd in 2010, followed by 38th in 2011.

Hannan is an advocate of localism. He believes that local government independence is impossible without giving local government self-financing. To that end, he supports replacing Value Added Tax with a local sales tax, set by local councils.

Hannan has a 'deep admiration' of the United States, and describes himself as an Atlanticist with inherently positive views of the United States as well as other nations of the Anglosphere.

He was the co-founder of a direct democracy group ("Direct Democracy") and co-author, along with 27 Conservative MPs elected in 2005, of Direct Democracy: An Agenda for a New Model Party, which proposes the wholesale devolution of power and the direct election of decision-makers. These ideas were developed further in a series of six pamphlets, The Localist Papers, serialised in The Daily Telegraph in 2007.

Thank goodness you provided that bio of Hannan, Ares. I have no idea where I would go to look it up myself. What on earth would we do without you... our unwelcome blog fact-checker???

You're very welcome IAC, glad to be of service. I had never heard of him before either, and he looks like a good guy. I'd certainly consider voting for him.

YouTube is also a great resource, although can't be counted on as factually accurate. Like here's a nice sibling drama between Bart and Lisa Simpson playing the UK and EU respectively. I think I missed out by ignoring the Simpsons all these years.

The UK is going to need a lot of entertainment breaks in the coming months of lawyering this divorce.
