Hillary Reappears

She’s baaaaaack!

Just when we needed a dose of comedy Hillary Clinton has returned. Now, we can amuse ourselves by making fun of Hillary.

Apparently, Hillary was reinvigorated by the Women’s March. You know, the one that was led by a woman who wants to promote Shariah Law in America. How did it happen that Shariah Law became a feminist wet dream?

In European countries that are ruled by women, Muslim refugees are currently imposing their rules and their standards on the populace, especially on women. When Muslim men are not raping them, that is.

Obviously, the defeat of Hillary Clinton, like Brexit, was a repudiation of woman power… that is, of Angela Merkel.

Kevin Williamson explains why Hillary has become a feminist heroine:

Hillary Rodham Clinton has had an odd career for a feminist icon.

Her main occupation has consisted of being the long-suffering wife of a powerful man, infamous for treating subordinate women as disposable conveniences, who abused her ruthlessly and humiliated her publicly. In exchange for standing by her man, she was given an orphaned Senate seat in New York, where she did not live, and two shots at the presidency, which she lost to an unknown back-bencher from Chicago in 2008 and to a reality-television host in 2016.

Margaret Thatcher she isn’t.

We all favor accomplishment and achievement. We favor it especially in people who have had to jump over hurdles to get to where they are. Thus, we admire Margaret Thatcher and do not respect the no-account Hillary Clinton. HRC collected her titles and job failures because of her sex, not   in spite of it.

What we all want to know is, when Hillary reappeared in public, did she see her shadow?

I leave that for the meteorologists.

But, Hillary did dust off an old feminist-- or, I should say, lesbian separatist-- slogan: “The Future Is Female.” Women around the world were thrilled, and, after all, why not? It’s amusing and entertaining to think that time has a gender. Of course, if women want to fight for dominance with men, good luck with that.

Being a deep thinker, Hillary borrowed the slogan from an old tee shirt.  Don’t say that she isn’t fashion forward. The New York Times has the story:

In October, Cara Delevingne was photographed in Paris wearing a navy sweatshirt that read “The Future Is Female” in clean white text. The same month, Ms. Delevingne’s girlfriend, the musician Annie Clark (a.k.a. St. Vincent), wore the same shirt, paired with a white Chanel bag, to the Chateau Marmont in Hollywood.

The $50 sweatshirt (also available as a $30 T-shirt, baby onesie and enamel pin) has become a sensation on Instagram and Tumblr, inspiring fans to carve the design into pumpkins, render it in needlepoint and dress small children in it. The sweatshirt isn’t the product of some nebulous corporate slogan. Indeed, it has a radical feminist history behind it.

The original “The Future Is Female” T-shirt design was made for Labyris Books, the first women’s bookstore in New York City. The photographer Liza Cowan took a picture of Alix Dobkin, her girlfriend at the time, wearing it in 1975. The photograph was done for a slide show she was working on.

When the design was revived last year Rachel Berks made up a batch of them. They sold out. Berks understood the message:

“It’s thrilling to see people embrace something that came out of the ’70s lesbian separatist moment,” Ms. Berks said. “The shirt is about a reaction to a misogynist and patriarchal culture that affects a lot of people. People are recontextualizing it: trans women, men, moms who have sons.”

More identity politics. It surely sounds as though these people are ready to take over the world.

Happily, Williamson throws some intellectual light on this concept. He notes that the French newspaper Le Figaro embraced Hillary’s idea, though translating it to read: “The future is feminine.” Obviously, no self-respecting American feminist would say such a thing. It would be like pretending that Betty Friedan had never denounced “the feminine mystique.”

But, Williamson continues, the phrase also appeared in French in a novel by enfant terrible, Michel Houllebecq: The Elementary Particles:

Houellebecq, an aging hedonistic intellectual who writes very sad novels about aging hedonistic intellectuals, imagined a future in which sexual rivalry and unhappiness between the sexes both have been abolished with a single master-stroke: the abolition of the human race and its replacement by an engineered successor species that reproduces asexually and is entirely female.

Asexual reproduction, aka parthenogenesis… now that will ensure that the future is female.

Now that Frau Merkel is hard at work Islamizing Europe, Houllebecq offered another dystopian novel, called Submission, in which he imagined what would happen when the female-dominant European governments submit to Islam.

Williamson explains it:

… a near-future France knuckles under to Islam, and aging hedonistic intellectuals, exploiting the fact that professors in France enjoy a much, much higher social status than they do in the United States, go in enthusiastically for polygamy and arranged marriage.

I haven’t read the book so I cannot tell you whether the hedonistic intellectuals also develop a taste for wife beating and honor killings. If you are going to adopt Shariah you should adopt Shariah.
