Who Is Anthony Borges?

You’ve probably never heard the name of Anthony Borges. At best, he will be a footnote to tragedy.

You know all about David Hogg and Emma Gonzalez, survivors of the Parkland school shooting. After all, they were useful. Their adolescent passions could be channeled and directed against the gun lobby. They became the faces of a national anti-gun movement… movement that is currently fading from view… for having largely outlived its usefulness.

Anthony Borges was also a student at Parkland’s Marjorie Stoneman Douglas High School. He ended up taking five bullets for trying to protect his classmates. A hero, don’t you think?

Now, instead of using the incident to advance the anti-gun agenda, Borges has called out the local sheriff and the school superintendent… the people who ought to have resigned in disgrace to accept responsibility for failure.

Zero Hedge blog has the story:

Parkland shooting victim Anthony Borges slammed Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel and Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School Superintendent Robert Runcie for failing "on so many levels" leading up to the February 14 massacre that left 17 students and teachers dead, reports CBS Miami via The Red Elephants

“To Sheriff Israel of the Broward Sheriff’s Office and Robert Runcie, the Superintendent of schools in Broward, I want to thank you for visiting me at the hospital, but I want to say that both of you failed us, students, teachers and parents alike, on so many levels,” read Borges's attorney Alex Arreaza.

Borges is being hailed as a hero for saving the lives of 20 classmates for attempting to close and lock a classroom door during the shooting - taking five bullets in the process.

The 15-year-old shooting victim also criticized school officials for allowing self-confessed gunman Nikolas Cruz to continue to attend school even after realizing he was a threat.

So, of course, the Left will hate him for harshing their mellow.

I am in awe such a young person would have the presence of mind to do what must be done in a situation like that. He is remarkable.

He shows you don't have to have a gun to act heroic.
