The Big Panic

What were they thinking? Or better, were they thinking at all?

The agents of the Deep State invaded the private home of the former president of the United States. They did not follow correct procedure, emeritus law professor Alan Dershowitz claimed, but the usual chorus of brain dead leftists has cheered the event. (Via Maggie’s Farm)

As for Dershowitz, here is his idea:

“The raid is supposed to be a last resort,” he said. “But this administration has used the weaponization of the justice system against its political enemies. It has arrested people, denied them bail, put them in handcuffs – used all kinds of techniques that are not usually applied to American citizens. I just hope this raid has the justification. If it doesn’t have the justification, the materials seized in it will be suppressed.”

So, was it just theatre? Are these people just a bunch of brown shirted thugs, trying to destroy their enemies? Or, did they just panic, in what Roger Simon called The Big Panic? Surely, they wanted to show who was in charge. Perhaps they wanted to diminish and defame the former president, without having any sense that their judicial overreach would make more people rally to his cause. 

At a time when the voices of the left have formed a cheering squad to crow about the mediocrity of Joe Biden, the man who cannot even put a jacket on, the so-called success of the Biden presidency just faded into much-deserved oblivion. In truth, the Biden cheerleaders are thrilled to see that senile old Joe has gotten so much legislation passed, without considering the outcomes produced by a demented president. All of that legislation does nothing for urban crime. It does not stop illegal immigration. It does not make America look any less feeble in the eyes of the world.

So, it might be that the raid that we are no longer allowed to call a raid was really a distraction, to keep people from talking about food inflation and Ukraine.

For his part Simon called it a step toward one party rule. We offer his considered remarks for your consideration.

What made 30 (or was it more) FBI agents give a former president the Gestapo treatment in the early hours of the morning, allegedly rummaging in multiple rooms of his house, not looking so much for anything in particular—anything would do—while breaking into his safe in the process?

Call it The Big Panic. Call it something more insidious—the instigation of one-party rule.

The Democrats, the Deep State, the Justice Department (DOJ), the FBI, and all the intelligence agencies, globalists, propagandists of mainstream media, all the adherents of that one-party rule and enemies of republican government, will do anything … anything … to stop Trump from winning the 2024 election.

That includes courting civil war, and endangering millions of lives in the process, even though some of these panic-stricken individuals must realize they could ultimately lose that war.

It doesn’t matter to them. They need to stop Trump. They know the current list of candidates on their side has no chance to win in a country whose economy and global importance are tanking simultaneously.

Worst of all—they would lose their jobs, many of which are lifetime sinecures.

Trump’s main goal now is to end the Deep State, including such things as simply closing down the Department of Education, which has done nothing positive for education since its inception. 

He has said as much in recent speeches, often to wild applause.

Now you would think that the denizens of the Deep State are terrified of Trump. If so, why conduct a raid of dubious legality in order to enhance Trump’s reputation. If, perchance, the Deep State succeeds in indicting Donald Trump, this will surely breathe life into the Republican Party-- which is sorely in need of same.

And in effect, as Gerard Baker pointed out in a Wall Street Journal column yesterday, the Trump backed senate candidates are united in one aspect-- they are amateurs and are more likely to lose. That includes J. D. Vance, Dr. Oz and Herschel Walker. 

Considering that Donald Trump’s railing about the Georgia Republican Party in 2021 was critical to allowing the Democrats to gain control of the Senate and to pass all the legislation that Republicans hate, one might understand that Democrats would want to empower, not to destroy, Donald Trump.

Simon suggests that Trump is the worst enemy the Deep State has known. And yet, Trump was president for four years and he spent most of his time fighting off the Deep State. He certainly did not defang it.

And besides, if Trump is not the candidate, then the mantle will surely fall to Florida governor Ron DeSantis. Now, DeSantis does not speak quite as loudly, but he certainly carries a bigger stick. As he has shown in Florida, he would be a nightmare for the Deep State.

If the people conducting extrajudicial proceedings were thinking-- one suspects that they have no sense of political strategy-- they would have run a raid in order to evoke sympathy for Trump, in order to get him nominated, because they think that he would be easier to beat than DeSantis.

Then again, as others have suggested-- and the thought is not to be easily dismissed-- perhaps the raid was a provocation, designed to cause Trump supporters to react with violence, the better to cover up the crime waves that have continued in America’s great blue cities. 

Surely, the purpose of the January 6 probe is to cover up the riotous insurrection that befell the nation during the spring and summer of 2020. Only someone as dumb as Liz Cheney could fail to see that she is colluding with the enemy in a war against the Republican Party, in a massive effort at blame shifting. As you might know inner city crime is not being produced by white Republicans.

So, we do not know what the Justice Department and the FBI is thinking. If they manage to indict Trump they might provoke a civil war, which will cover up the great crime wave that has rendered many American cities barely inhabitable. Or else it will cover up the deleterious effects of the migrant invasion that has been fostered by the Biden administration.

But, they might be thinking that they want Trump to run again, because they are convinced that he will be easier to beat than DeSantis. If a stronger candidate like DeSantis runs, it will be a nightmare for the Deep State. If these people were even minimally intelligent their goal in life would be to keep DeSantis out of the White House.

Of course, we like to think that the perpetrators of the outrage were thinking. It might just be that they were not thinking and that they do not know how to think. They might merely have been flexing their muscles and showing off how tough they are. Brimming with mindless righteous zeal they might have just acted without having any sense of the consequences of their actions. If that were the case, things are even worse than I think.

If you prefer an alternative explanation, consider that, in the mind of certain leftists, Donald Trump is the Antichrist, perhaps Joe Biden, representing the Second Coming of the Messiah-- Barack Obama- wants to destroy the Antichrist in order to open the gates to the New Jerusalem, the Heavenly City on earth. That would make it eschatology run amok.
