"The Arrogance of the Learned"

Last Saturday I offered a post on the religion of education.

Today David Foster of the Chicago Boyz blog has posted some of Peter Drucker’s views on education in American society. Drucker’s views date to 1969.

The passages quoted offer a remarkably astute analysis of the state of American education. It is as relevant now as it was in 1969.

We all owe David Foster a debt of gratitude for providing us this great selection of Drucker’s thinking.

Drucker was the dean of management consultants. His thinking deserves far more serious attention outside of his field of endeavor.

Here is a sample of Drucker’s thought: “It is highly probable that the next great wave of popular criticism, indignation, and revolt in the United States will be provoked by the arrogance of the learned.”
