Speaking truth to power Alan Dershowitz condemned President Obama for failing to call out bigots on the left. Breitbart offered a transcript of his remarks on CNN:
On Tuesday’s broadcast of “CNN Tonight,” attorney and author Alan Dershowitz criticized President Barack Obama for not calling out Black Lives matter and Representative Keith Ellison (D-MN) for their bigotry, and “we on the liberal side have to call out the bigotry on the left as strongly as people on the right have to call the bigotry of the far right.”
Dershowitz said, “President Obama hasn’t done enough. He hasn’t done enough in calling out Black Lives Matter when they included an argument about genocide, calling Israel a genocidal country. He hasn’t done enough on Keith Ellison, who for years was associated with Farrakhan, and now says, I didn’t know he was an anti-Semite. Look, if Keith Ellison worked for years with Farrakhan and didn’t know he was an anti-Semite, he’s too dumb to head the DNC. And I don’t believe he’s dumb. I don’t think he’s telling us the truth. And I think that we on the liberal side have to call out the bigotry on the left as strongly as people on the right have to call the bigotry of the far right.”
At a time when all good Democrats are in the highest dudgeon over signs of bigotry on the right, it is useful to notice that our president has himself been stoking the fires of hatred. After all, he has happily received Al Sharpton and the Black Lives Matter leaders to the White House. And of course, candidate Obama was supported by Rev. Farrakhan in his election bid. Admittedly, Obama is smoother than some others, but we are still living in the Age of Obama. And the Age of Obama has seen an increase in bigotry... against police officers, for example.
Dershowitz points out correctly that people on the right should call out right wing bigots and that people on the left should call out leftist bigots.
