Congress Neuters the English Language

We have just about reached terminal stupid. Yesterday, at the invocation opening the first session of the new Congress, one Emanuel Cleaver, an ordained minister, no less, uttered these words:

We ask it in the name of the monotheistic God, [unintelligible], and God known by many names and by many different faiths, amen, and a woman….

Of course, Cleaver is referring to the God of monotheism, but it makes no sense to say that the God of monotheism is a monotheistic God. And it makes even less sense to say that the same God is involved in many different faiths. The God of Abraham is only involved directly in Judaism, Christianity and Islam. Thus, the Abraham Accords, recently signed by Israel and several of its Arab neighbors.

As for the word “amen,” Pennsylvania Rep. Guy Reschenthaler was quickly pointed out that the word-- amen-- is not gendered. It is Latin for-- so be it. If it were gendered, it could not be "a men," because men is plural and “a” is singular.

It would be like saying that wopeople personstruate until such time as they undergo personopause. Such changes will surely be coming soon-- we cannot allow "men" to be verbally involved in such activities, can we?

Apparently, Speaker Pelosi wants to eliminate all gendered references from House business, the better to piss more people off and to continue the brave new world of incoherent and brutalized English grammar. Nothing quite like neutering everyone-- to ensure that nonbinary people do not feel bad.

The Daily Caller reports that the chairindividual of the House Rules committee, one James McGovern-- he of the gendered first name-- has now decreed:

….pronouns and familial relationships in the House rules to be gender-neutral or removes references to gender, as appropriate, to ensure we are inclusive of all Members, Delegates, Resident Commissioners and their families – including those who are nonbinary….

Inclusivity and non-binariness have arrived in the House of Representatives. Tell me that you are optimistic about America’s future.

Those are children, spoiled and entitled, and we are not to look to them for leadership.

I concur, Dan. But I reserve the right to laugh and point.

Back to the 1970s, which at least had better music and movies. I see Pelosi allowed some employees to spraypaint her garage so she could claim she's a victim. Does anyone believe she doesn't have better security at home than that?

Ahhhhh, then, by saying gendered words we can cock our snoots at Miss Nancy! OK, everybody, you KNOW what TO DO...
