Leaving Portland

You do not need to have watched the Democratic National Convention to know that they will not utter the least word about the riots in America’s blue cities. Cities are being destroyed and the Democrats have nothing to say about it. After all, these cities and the states that contain them are all run by Democrats.

The party is railing about Donald Trump’s derelictions of duty, about his laziness and whatever. All the while Democratic executives have allowed their cities to be destroyed-- and they simply do not care.

Today, a word from Portland, Oregon. Among America’s worst mayors we must count Ted Wheeler in Portland. Mayor Wheeler had always shown a marked insouciance to the predations of Antifa radicals. He has basically let them run wild, regardless of the results for their citizens. Remember Andy Ngo. Thus, radicals are happy to ply their trade and to destroy downtown Portland.

The result-- businesses are moving out. A city is being destroyed. And, the national Democratic Party doesn’t care. The people of Oregon will vote Democratic no matter what. So, why bother.

The New York Post has the story:

Large companies are fleeing offices in downtown Portland — because nightly Black Lives Matter riots are making the heart of the Oregon city a no-go area, according to a report.

A No-Go zone. Now, where have we heard that before?

“Businesses are leaving,” Andrew Hoan, the president and CEO of the Portland Business Alliance (PBA), told KATU.

“The financial consequences to the downtown corridor are a running calculation that is almost impossible to wrap your mind around,” he said — with one company already saying the riots have cost $20 million in damage and lost business.

“You have blocks and blocks of plywood. You have graffiti. You have an accumulation of damages that are un-repaired, an ongoing perception that coming downtown is not a safe place,” Hoan said.

You might think that insurance will pay for it, but that depends on the kind of insurance you have. Besides, what insurance company is going to write insurance for downtown Portland now?

Anyway, one of the companies that is sending staff outside of the city is an insurance company:

Standard Insurance is one of the companies to now largely evacuate, switching many of its 2,100 Portland employees from its downtown HQ to instead work at a site just outside the city, according to KGW.

“Our downtown properties have sustained significant vandalism and a number of employees and contractors have been assaulted in recent months,” the company’s senior spokesman, Bob Speltz, said.

As for Mayor Wheeler: crickets:

KATU said Mayor Ted Wheeler did not respond to its story about the businesses’ complaints.

Yet, there are still people who will vote dem. They simply can't connect the dots to make a square, much less a pony.

I doubt that the insurance company has moved far enough away. As I've said before, if you have a Dem mayor and a Dem governor, you are now, or soon WILL be, a two-time loser.

urb, the stupid is strong in those ones.
